I woke up in the morning and went to check on the cats. Both in their hiding spots. I turned on the water to brush my teeth and that seemed to get Cali’s attention! She jumped out of the hamper and onto the floor next to Henry (hiding behind the ottoman). I left the room and came back, and she was still on the floor (rather than in the hamper).
Left the room again, and came back later to find Henry in the hamper! And Cali in Henry’s spot.
The extra stuff I ordered arrived, so they got a few more places to sit. In the deliver was one of those soft pyramid looking cat beds. Annoyingly, I got rid of one a few months ago when Gwen never used it. And stupidly, I only ordered one. Cali likes it and I wonder if I had ordered two if they’d both be in one, rather then Cali in the pyramid and Henry in the hamper. I’m going to need those clothes eventually.

I also got the second cat box. They now seem to be using one for pee and the other for poop, which makes me laugh for some reason. The camera hasn’t caught them using it, but I have to assume if they’re both eating, then they’re both pooping. And the camera has caught them both eating.
In the afternoon, I wanted to try again with a Churu. The shelter had one of those long flat spoons for giving treats to unfriendly cats. I didn’t. But I did have an extra toothbrush. So I put some Churu on the handle and tried to extend it to Cali, who was now in the pyramid. She didn’t hiss or seem mad, unfortunately, she seemed to just shut down. She put her head down and looked down and froze. I could tell she wanted the Churu, but couldn’t bring herself to even look at it. A bit heartbreaking. So I made sure she saw me out of the corner of her eye and pulled back with the Churu-covered toothbrush. I set it in their food area and left the room. I checked the camera and was delighted to see they had both come out for it.
It’s okay if she doesn’t trust me yet, knowing she WILL come out of her hiding spot and that she likes the Churu, means we will get there eventually.
I went back in later and she was back in the pyramid.
The photo is a little blurry because this is 5x zoom from across the room, but at least she made eye contact again. The whole “void” thing cracks me up, too. All you can see are eyes.

Overnight, lots of videos of Henry exploring. And these two shots of them both out! And I’m pretty sure that’s Cali sitting in the cat tree!! She looks so relaxed. (And yes, I moved the camera again).
There were a few videos showing them both exploring the space. And several showing Henry exploring and Cali loafed on top of the ottoman. So they’re both eating and getting comfortable with the space. Great progress, I’m so happy with how it’s going.
